Unconditional love, what is it? How does it operate? Can a Christian operate in unconditional love?
To get the answer to these questions, I want us to really get a picture in our heart of Father God and His unconditional love for us. We see Father God and His unconditional love in this Bible scripture, 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 and so I have placed Him in this scripture for He is unconditional love. Read it and you will see what I mean.
Father God endures long and is patient and kind. He never is envious nor boils over with jealousy. He is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display Himself haughtily. 5 He is not conceited, arrogant and inflated with pride. He is not rude or unmannerly and does not act unbecomingly. He does not insist on His own rights or His own way even when we do things our way. He is not touchy or fretful or resentful. Because of Jesus taking the punishment for all of our sins past, present, and future; He takes no account of the evil done to Him, pays no attention to a suffered wrong. 6 He does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail. 7 Father God’s unconditional love continues on at all times, believing the best of every person. His hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and His loves never weakens. 8 Father God’s love never fails, never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end. AMP
This Bible scripture exposes Father and His unconditional love and should stir our faith in Father God’s unconditional love for us. This unconditional love is not based on our performance from day to day and He isn’t even keeping a record of everything we do wrong, condemning us over it.
Did you notice He is not demanding of our love or of us doing things His way even though it is always the right way to go? He isn’t even counting up our sins, since Jesus took care of all sins of the flesh by taking the punishment for us, justifying us to the Father. Justify makes it just as if we had never sinned. Now that is unconditional love.
Jesus revealed to us Father God in unconditional love. He said if we saw Him in operation then we saw the Father in operation. He spoke and did what the Father told Him to speak and do. Jesus’ life on planet earth was filled with unconditional love, grace, mercy, truth and compassion.
Now we are born of Father God by His Spirit, we have His very nature; we love with this unconditional love. And the more we stay connected up to Father God and His unconditional love that is when this unconditional love will just flow out of us like a river.
Father is love. He just can’t help Himself. That love just flows out.
The most powerful thing in this universe is the unconditional love of God. That's why People coming into contact with His love changes their lives forever. There is mental, emotional and physical healing in the presence of this unconditional love. All addictions lose their power and are eliminated in the presence of Father’s unconditional love and that can include cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, and all other addictions. Fear, stress, pressure, anxiety, and worry are removed, for the love of Father God casts out all fear from this world. In this very place of peace answers are gotten for all of life’s challenges.
1 John 4:18-19 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.19 We love him, because he first loved us. KJV
Any fear in our lives indicates we are trusting in ourselves and have left the security of the unconditional love of Father God and we are out there in dangerous territory all by ourselves.
Fear is a torment that robs us of sleep, causes us to lose or gain weight, and causes sickness in our bodies and many other kinds of bad things. So we need to dwell in Father God’s unconditional love.
Job in the Old Testament experienced fear, fear of his children displeasing God and as a result lost his children and most of his possessions.
Job 3:25-26 For the thing which I greatly fear comes upon me, and that of which I am afraid befalls me. 26 I was not or am not at ease, nor had I or have I rest, nor was I or am I quiet, yet trouble came and still comes [upon me]. AMP
After He got rid of this fear God was able to bless him with more children and lots more possessions.
A real good definition of fear is false evidence that appears to be real. It is not real but only in our minds and then as we dwell on it, then it will manifest in our lives. Fear is faith in things we don’t want in our lives. So if you don’t want your family members to have a disease or you lose a job or lose a spouse or whatever negative things come to your mind; then don’t dwell on that in your thought life. Replace all fear by getting into the presence of Father God’s and receive His unconditional love and peace. Again there is where all issues of life should be dealt with and answers should be gotten, in this place of no fear.
As New Testament believers, we should never believe Father God’s unconditional love for us is based on our performance and us. His unconditional love has nothing to do with performance. He just loves us because He is love and He wants to love us.
Did you realize that mankind was not created to serve Father God. The angels were created for that purpose. No, we were all created because He wanted a family to love.
And the unconditional love of Father God is the very reason He sent His Son, Jesus, to keep all mankind from destruction and bring us back to the Father making peace with Him for us.
Father God wishes that we experience His unconditional love every day and find a sweet, peaceful rest in that unconditional love away from the pressures of life, where we will find the hope, the strength and the wisdom to face each day.
Matthew 11:28-29 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.] 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest ( relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls. AMP
Let’s make this confession:
I am a child of Father God and I live a life of unconditional love. I am like my Father God and I too am patient and kind and I do not envy, nor am I jealous of others. I am not a boaster of what I have done. Living in this unconditional love I am not haughty, overbearing, rude, domineering, pushy or selfish; that’s just not my nature. I love being generous with what I have, always willing to give to those in need. Because I love I am not easily angered and keep a record of all the wrong people have done to me. I hate evil just like my Father and it rejoices my heart when I see the Truth is revealed. In every situation in my life, I will be found in Father’s unconditional love having all the answers. I am always looking for the best in every person and I choose to overlook their shortcomings. My hopes are always high for Father’s love makes me strong and excited about life. I can’t fail, I am living a life of unconditional love.
